Outloud (formerly BYDS – Bankstown Youth Development Service) makes and supports meaningful community art and positive cultural development.
For more than 27 years, Outloud has had an incredibly active community arts practice in the Bankstown and surrounding areas. We have initiated and executed over eight hundred arts and cultural projects. We’ve worked with thousands of people to build a generation of professional artists and transform our cultural landscape.
Canterbury-Bankstown is the biggest local government area in Australia. It is one of Australia’s most linguistically and religiously diverse areas, with pockets of severe disadvantage: a true global microcosm.
Our engagement with local communities is deep rooted and genuine, with several generations of artists and residents developing through programs at fledgling, emerging and leadership stages of their practices and lives.
We aim to change people’s understanding of community arts, share the voices of those in the community of Canterbury-Bankstown, and contribute to the sustainability and resilience of the arts and culture across South-Western Sydney.
Outloud is a not-for-profit organisation, and is on the Federal Government’s Cultural Organisations register. We have Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, so donations to these programs that change young people’s lives are also tax-deductible. Donate now and raise your voice for Outloud!
Outloud is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW, the department of Social Services, and impact100.
