Bankstown CBD Announced as Location for New Hospital

CBD ANNOUNCED AS LOCATION FOR NEW HOSPITAL

Today, Monday 11 December 2023, the Minns Labor Government has confirmed the new Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital will be located at the TAFE campus in Bankstown’s CBD, delivering a brand-new hospital to Western Sydney residents.

The Canterbury-Bankstown Chamber of Commerce (CBCC) welcomes and strongly supports this announcement.

CBCC Chief Executive Officer, Wally Mehanna, said “This is a fantastic opportunity for further economic uplift of Canterbury-Bankstown. This state-of-the-art hospital will assist in the development of local industry and provide opportunities for local businesses to be involved in the construction of this amazing facility.”

CBCC Chairperson, Bill Parasiris, said “CBCC welcomes this major outcome for the future of the local health and education precinct, including local schools, Western Sydney University, TAFE NSW, and the community. The commitment of $1.3 billion for the planned hospital will provide health services that the community greatly needs.”

The CBCC believes that this announcement cements South-West Sydney as an integral part of the overall future of Western Sydney in the delivery of improved and integrated health care.
